2017 CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS SURVEY
For those that completed the contract negotiations survey, please be advised that the survey was anonymous and if you requested information or assistance within the comments portion of the survey, you will need to contact the Local directly. As the statewide survey results were being reviewed, there were numerous requests for assistance and the Local has no method of determining who requested that assistance.
PROPOSED NYS CONSITUTIONAL CONVENTION
On Election Day 2017, November 7th, voters in New York will be given a referendum on the ballot regarding a proposed New York State Constitutional Convention to be held in the future. The vote this year will be whether there should be a Constitutional Convention in the future (see the link below for the timeline). We must educate all of our members, families and friends about the risks and costs involved, particularly as State employees. What type of risks? Changes to our pensions, union rights and more. Who would make these decisions? Only those that could afford an expensive campaign to be voted in as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention. See the attached flyers for more information, facts and a timeline, and then talk with your family and friends – New York State does NOT want or need a Constitutional Convention!
JOB ANALYSIS SITE VISITS
UCS has informed CSEA that they will be conducting various statewide Job Analysis Site Visits for the titles of Surrogate’s Court Clerk, Supervising Court Office Assistant and Court Assistant titles in the next four to six weeks, some to be conducted in person, others via Skype. CSEA has encouraged UCS to do an analysis of various titles, but the ultimate decision which titles will be examined is at their discretion.
UCS has not given dates/times of the site visits, but for your information, the list of visits include two counties within the 20 counties of our local:
INTRODUCTION OF ELECTRONIC RECORDING
Members are asked to immediately report to the Local instances of the introduction of electronic recording into a court where it has not been utilized on prior occasions.
OUT OF OFFICE
I will be out of the office on February 3rd and 6th through the 10th. Please direct any issues to our Local officers, as listed on our web site.
DO YOU KNOW YOUR CSEA ID NUMBER?
Every CSEA Membership Number begins with “123.” You need your Membership Number to participate in elections and to vote on your contract, among other things. If you do not know your membership number, you may obtain it through the CSEA web site, www.cseany.org, by clicking on “Look up your CSEA ID” at the top of the home page. Once a month, we randomly insert a member’s ID number somewhere within the text of a Receiver Notice. If you see your member ID number, contact me within 48 hours and you will receive a check for $20. (Our November 2016 selected number was from Broome and December 2016 number was from Franklin. Neither member contacted the Local to receive their money.)
