CSEA REGION 5 POLAR PLUNGE – BINHAMTON/OXFORD PLUNGE - THIS SATURDAY!

You have three opportunities to either participate in the Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics, to attend one of the Plunges and/or sponsor plungers taking the dive in the frigid waters.  The Binghamton Plunge takes place this Saturday, November 4th, 2017 at Bowman Lake State Park in Oxford.  The St. Lawrence Plunge takes place on Saturday, November 18th, 2017 in Massena, and the Oneida Plunge occurs on Sunday, December 3rd in Brewerton, near Syracuse.  So gather up a team, get some donations, show up, plunge… or show up, don’t plunge, cheer on the plungers – it’s always a great time, either way, with hundreds of participants and prizes and more.

And if you cannot attend one of the events, pass the hat at your work location and make a donation to one of the plungers to show your support for Special Olympics.  Either Pledge a Binghamton Plunger (www.PolarPlungeNY.org/Binghamton - Select CSEA Southern Peeps Team), St. Lawrence or Syracuse CSEA Region 5 Polar Plunger or you can pledge me personally by following this link: http://events.nyso.org/site/TR/Plunge/POLARPLUNGE?px=1001775&pg=personal&fr_id=1317

PROPOSED NYS CONSITUTIONAL CONVENTION – VOTE NO!

On Election Day 2017, November 7th, voters in New York will be given a referendum on the ballot regarding a proposed New York State Constitutional Convention to be held in the future.  The vote this year will be whether there should be a Constitutional Convention in the future.  We must educate all of our members, families and friends about the risks and costs involved, particularly as State employees.  What type of risks?  Changes to our pensions, union rights and more.  Who would make these decisions?  Only those that could afford an expensive campaign to be voted in as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention.  Talk with your family, friends and neighbors – New York State does NOT want or need a Constitutional Convention!
