CORRECTION FOR ARTICLE 8.3 PRODUCTIVITY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM (PEP)

(Kathy Guild, CSEA Dep. Director of Contract Administration, Oct. 13, 2017)

The language in Article 8.3 of the CSEA/UCS Collective Bargaining Agreement is partially incorrect. The amounts allowed for the exchange of annual leave  to offset the cost of health care for 2017 and 2018 remain at $500 and $1,000.  The new amounts of $600 and $1,200 will begin in 2019. This is a Civil Service Program that UCS participates in and the amounts are set by them, per the negotiations with the CSEA Executive Branch.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

SLED PAYMENTS TO BEGIN IN 2019

(Kathy Guild, CSEA Dep. Director of Contract Administration, Oct. 13, 2017)

On September 29, 2017, the NYS Court Officers Association and the NYS Supreme Court Officers Association ratified contracts with the Unified Court System.  Included in these two contracts is an economic benefit called Security Law Enforcement Differential (SLED).  This benefit provides an additional payment on April 1, 2019 of $500 to all NYS Court Officers and NYS Court Attendants and an additional payment of $750 on April 1, 2020.

CSEA has an Economic Benefit Side Letter with the Unified Court System that provides that CSEA will receive any economic benefit provided to any other UCS Bargaining Unit.  As a result of that Side Letter, all CSEA-represented NYS Court Officers and NYS Court Attendants will receive the $500 payment on April 1, 2019.  Because the CSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement ends on March 31, 2019, this amount will be Triboroughed (continued under the old contract) until a new successor Agreement is negotiated and ratified. CSEA will have to negotiate the $750 rate in our successor Agreement in order for that amount to be paid.

CSEA REGION 5 POLAR PLUNGE

You have three opportunities to either participate in the Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics, to attend one of the Plunges and/or sponsor plungers taking the dive in the frigid waters.  The Binghamton Plunge takes place on Saturday, November 4th, 2017 at Bowman Lake State Park in Oxford.  The St. Lawrence Plunge takes place on Saturday, November 18th, 2017 in Massena, and the Oneida Plunge occurs on Sunday, December 3rd (NOT Saturday as listed on flyer) in Brewerton, near Syracuse.  So gather up a team, get some donations, show up, plunge… or show up, don’t plunge, cheer on the plungers – it’s always a great time, either way, with hundreds of participants and prizes and more.  And if you cannot attend one of the events, pass the hat at your work location and make a donation to one of the plungers to show your support for Special Olympics.  Polar Plunge Poster - Click Here

PROPOSED NYS CONSITUTIONAL CONVENTION – VOTE NO!

On Election Day 2017, November 7th, voters in New York will be given a referendum on the ballot regarding a proposed New York State Constitutional Convention to be held in the future.  The vote this year will be whether there should be a Constitutional Convention in the future.  We must educate all of our members, families and friends about the risks and costs involved, particularly as State employees.  What type of risks?  Changes to our pensions, union rights and more.  Who would make these decisions?  Only those that could afford an expensive campaign to be voted in as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention.  Talk with your family, friends and neighbors – New York State does NOT want or need a Constitutional Convention!
